Writing with ImpactA letter from Dr. David Jensen
Hi Lauren, I was giving two young aspiring veterinarians a tour of my mobile veterinary truck today, along with their moms, and while walking through our office, one of the moms picked up the November issue of the San Luis Obispo County Journal and began reading your article about Tenzin Lhazey. She was quite taken by the story. She said that two passages you wrote grabbed her attention and stuck in her mind. "Change doesn’t require giant non-profit organizations, it doesn’t require overhead or bureaucrats or politicians. Change happens by starting anyplace and allowing that action to ripple through vast interconnectedness." and ....."our united front allowed each of our small efforts to join together to get some powerful things accomplished. " These passages instantly motivated her to action, having been inspired by your story of how one individual's small action might be able to improve the world. Her husband is a physician working in Africa on an AIDS project and she was asking about mobile medical units such as mine, and how such a unit could have a big impact in Africa where it is so difficult to access remote villages to deliver AIDS drugs and treatments. Who knows what might grow from this? You have written a very fine piece of work, and it is having an effect on the world, one small project at a time. I think your rolling snow is growing! |
